    Our in-person surf lessons offer one-on-one or small group coaching tailored to your skill level. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your technique, Coach Rowan provides hands-on guidance in the water, helping you master key skills like paddling, pop up, technique and ocean awareness. With his personalised approach, you’ll gain the confidence and skills to progress quickly, all while enjoying the beauty of the Sunshine Coast surf.

  • Surf Video Analysis

    Location: Sunshine Coast and Online

    Our Surf Analysis gives you the option to submit your own surf video or be filmed by Coach Rowan on the Sunshine Coast. We provide a detailed breakdown of key areas such as body position, paddle technique, wave selection, and timing. You’ll receive personalized feedback and actionable tips to help you improve your performance and build confidence in the water.

  • Surf Skate Sessions

    Location: Send It Surf Academy HQ (Coolum Beach)

    Take your surfing to new heights with our surf skate sessions! Surf skating is the perfect way to practice and improve your surf techniques on dry land. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, our surf skate sessions will help you feel more confident and fluid on the waves. Get the feel of the surf and develop your muscle memory for smooth, controlled turns and pop-ups – all while having fun on land! Perfect for improving your board control, flow, and overall surf performance and with group or 1:1 options.

  • Surf Training Sessions

    Location: Send It Surf Academy HQ (Coolum Beach)

    Our surf training sessions are designed to adapt to the specific needs of each group. Whether you're looking to enhance your technique or build essential skills, we offer a variety of training methods to help you progress. These may include analysing surf videos to improve wave-reading and ocean awareness, practicing pop-ups and other key skills on land, or working on water-based techniques in the pool such as paddling, turning, and breath holds. We also incorporate surf skating to help you develop balance and control. Each session is customised to focus on areas that will help you become a more confident and capable surfer, no matter your level.

Meet your Coach

Hi, I'm Rowan, the founder of Send It Surf Academy. I’m a proud Monaro Ngarigo man from a small town on the south-east coast of Australia.

As a professional surf coach, I’m deeply passionate about both surfing and mental health. At Send It Surf Academy, my mission is to empower individuals through surfing, not only by refining technique but also by fostering a positive, resilient mindset. I believe that mastering the mental side of surfing is just as important as developing physical skills.

I’m also a strong advocate for ocean safety and awareness, which I view as the foundation of becoming a skilled surfer. Above all, I’m committed to ensuring every participant has a fulfilling and enjoyable experience, which is reflected in my personalized teaching approach.

MY COACHING METHOD

  • OCEAN AWARENESS

    To start off, you'll learn how waves are formed, how they break, and how to identify rip currents and other important ocean conditions. This knowledge helps you make safer, more informed decisions in the water, enhancing both your confidence and your surfing skills.

  • TECHNIQUE

    Next, we focus on techniques tailored to your individual needs, helping you build the skills required for confident surfing. We believe in a personalized approach—there’s no one-size-fits-all method here. You'll receive coaching that’s specifically suited to your strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring steady progress and a stronger connection to the waves.

  • MINDSET

    If you struggle with the mental side of surfing, awareness is the key to breaking old habits and replacing them with positive, supportive ones. We’ll help you build mental resilience, tackling challenges like fear, doubt, and stress, so you can stay focused and confident both in and out of the water.
